Coronavirus Lockdown Day 10
It really has been a wonderful Autumn to date, warm sunny days and cool clear nights.
It is a real tease considering our incarnation but lovely while it lasts.
More varnishing almost finished!
Thanks to Claudia Myatt forthis evocative scene

Coronavirus Lockdown Day 9
It must be “Groundhog Day” as I awaken to another glorious Autumn day..long my it continue.
Not much to report more of a domestic day, cooked up some chickpeas and made hummus and helped tidy the kitchen cupboards.
Cleaned up the boat squabs which now smell much better!
Number One Son gave me a No.3 razor cut sitting outside in the sun, it’s the small things that count towards normality.

Coronavirus Lockdown Day 8
Another sensational day has dawned, its such a tease as I had planned to be away sailing on Lake Rotoi and the weather has been perfect!
A 10km bike ride yesterday was my outside exercise and more varnishing was my quiet time.
I have started rereading Laurie Lee’s wonderful “As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning “ I’ve always enjoyed his descriptive prose first read as a schoolboy.

Coronavirus Lockdown Day 7
Well that’s a week down and quite surprised how fast and smoothly it’s passed, it remains to be seen how much longer we will be lockdowned. The glorious Autumn weather is a great help, one wonders how we will all manage when all forced inside!
Varnished the companionway boards yesterday and will apply another coat today..

Coronavirus Lockdown Day 6
Day 6 has dawned a beautiful cloudless day, the doors are wide open and a warm sun beams down unaware that the world has changed.
It is so quiet these days, so silent that sometimes it’s almost deafening, then suddenly the melodic song of a Tui starts up soon followed by the echo of another across the road. Our guava trees fruit is starting to ripen and with it the feathery rustle of wings marks the arrival of the Native Pigeons, they are a heavy bird and rather ungainly, crash into the trees, the branches bending until equilibrium is found.

Coronavirus Lockdown Day 5
Well 5 days down and who knows how any more to endure?
How long before we can again enjoy our freedom?
Until then all we have is memories and photos.....
