A Favourite Boat

Many years ago my first keelboat was one of the legendary  Farr 727 quarter tonners rejoicing the name of "Pennyfarrthing" !!
They were and still are fantastic little boats in which I raced and cruised the Hauraki Gulf.
Happy Days of yore....the photo shows us broad reaching down the Rangitoto Channel on a glorious winters race day back in the early 80's

  1. As you know the first of these was called Fanzipantz and was highly successful as a quarter tonner. We had a 727 here in Whangarei that used to race in Auckland from time to time called 'Straight Laced'. The team that raced this went on to build a Farr One Ton Cup yacht (sistership or close variation to 'Jimney Cricket') she was called 'Love Lace' - Yes indeed, days of yore!!! Good days, great sailing .... and there are many left!!!

  3. Nifty looking boat - bags of fun. Time flies. Thirty or so years, and now a memory, a happy one at that, I'm sure.
